DWI for Former NBA Star Jayson Williams:  Jayson Williams was born in February, 1968.  Williams played for the Philadelphia 76ers and the New Jersey Nets during his tenure in the NBA.  In 2010 Williams was sentenced to 18 months in prison for the accidental shooting of a limo driver.  Williams was chosen by the Phoenix Suns with the 21st pick of the first round in the 1990 NBA Draft.  Phoenix subsequently traded him to Philadelphia for a future draft choice.  Williams rode the bench for Philadelphia before being traded to New Jersey.  Williams came into his own beginning in the 1996-97 season.  During that season, he lead the league in offensive rebounds and was in the top five for total rebounds, rebounds per game, total rebound percentage and offensive rating.  He was also chosen for the 1998 NBA All Star Game.  Unfortunately, in April of 1999 Williams suffered a severely broken leg that required five screws and a plate.  He retired the next year.

DWI for Former NBA Star Jayson Williams: In 2002 Costas Christofi was shot and killed at Williams’ home in Alexandria Township, New Jersey.  Apparently Williams was mishandling a shotgun that discharged killing Christofi.  Williams was tried for that offense in 2004 and acquitted for the most serious charges but convicted of reckless manslaughter.  Williams was also convicted of trying to bribe witnesses.  Williams received five years in prison with parole possible after 18 months.  Williams served that time along with an additional year for a DWI in New York.  Williams got drunk and ran his Mercedes into a tree.  Williams served his time.

DWI for Former NBA Star Jayson Williams:  On January 26, 2016 Williams crashed his jeep into a power pole in upstate New York. Williams was arrested for DWI by the responding Sullivan County Sheriff’s Office.  Williams reported that he swerved for a deer; Williams was arrested as he had problems standing, slurred his speech and showed clues on a sobriety test.  Williams was taken to the Catskill Regional Medical Center for injuries suffered in the crash.  Blood was taken for drug and alcohol analysis.  According to Williams, “Alcohol is the cause of all my problems. If I had to think of what I would do different in my whole career, it’s that I never would have picked up a beer, bottle of vodka. That definitely changed my life.
